When members of the reserve military are called to active duty, sometimes the first battle is dealing with issues left behind on the home front. Like fighting over an apartment lease. Or making sure your employer has your job available when you return. A law that had its origins during the Civil War is designed to serve as a protective umbrella for active-duty military - including reservists and members of the National Guard who are called to active service.
